Two Favorites: Modern Handmade Child & DIY Dish

Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone! Hope you all started out with a nice green bagel or green eggs and ham! Don't forget to wear a shamrock today.

Are you Etsy obsessed like me? If you're a fanatic, and don't already know about Modern Handmade Child you have got to check it out. Here is how they describe their free online publication:

Modern Handmade Child is a seasonal online publication celebrating handmade living in a new way. Our mission is to provide a fun and valuable resource helping families to embrace the handmade way of life, by intertwining the skills and values of days gone by with the trends and technologies of today. Our editors and contributors come together from around the world, including Europe, Australia, Canada, and many parts of the United States. Modern Handmade Child is published quarterly, and available for free at modernhandmadechild.com.

A new spring issue just came out and a special Mother's Day edition too. That one has lots of fun articles and stuff in it like a tutorial for making your own bath scrub or a mirror sihoutte, printable lunch box notes, Mother's Day coloring pages and mazes, and of course lots of super cute handmade goodness. Plus if you're a expecting between May 1 and August 31 and have made at least five Etsy purchases, you can sign up to be mom for the spring and summer Etsy baby shower. You could get a handmade gift sent to you. Check out the Mother's Day Edition of Modern Handmade Child below!

The Spring 2010 edition has great ideas too! Make sure you flip through it too and if you are reading this via email subcription you are probably seeing a big white spot. C'mon over and take a look.

If seeing all that handmade glory has gotten you in the mood to make something, I suggest you check out the first episode of DIY Dish. Hosted by my friend Kris from Jesse Kate Designs and her sister Kim from YCMT, they have the cutest tutorial for making a simple cake pin cushion out of felt and you can win a pin cushion kit from Heather Bailey. Plus there is still a little time left to enter and win a sewing or embroidery machine from their sponsor Janome.

  3. Thank you so much Katie for sharing about our newest project! You are so awesome! It's been kind of a scary thing to break out of my shell and do something like this, but it's been fun, too. I appreciate your support and encouragement so much! You are a wonderful friend!
