Stamping Resist Technique

The last few times I've needed a card, I haven't had time to make one. I decided to make up a few generic cards that I could easily add a sentiment to later. For this one I also tried a using a stamping resist technique for the first time.
To start with I randomly stamped a large flower on my cardstock several times in white ink and embossed each one with white embossing powder. If you are unfamiliar with embossing, it's easy.

You stamp your image and sprinkle on the powder, you can get it in a variety of colors to match your project, tap of the excess powder and then heat it. I have an embossing gun, but you can do it very carefully with a hair dryer. You will see the embossing powder change texture, melt, and become shiny and raised. Then I took a make up sponge to add ink all over the paper. Where I embossed, you can see how it resisted the ink. It works just like the crayon resist pictures you might have done as a child. I rubbed ink all over my paper to create my own unique background paper to use for my card. I really like how it gave the whole thing a watercolor effect. It's fun to play with how much ink you add and vary the intensity of the color. The same stamp set was used to create stamped embellishments, which were attached with some with foam to create different heights.A little ribbon finished the card. Attached to a cardstock base, it's ready for me to add a sentiment and print out a message to attach to the inside. Here is my inspiration piece, ER's bed quilt. Deciding on a color scheme for a project, when one element isn't already multicolored has always been hard for me. Referring to something I like, has me helped because I know the colors will work together well since I've already seen them combined.
