Havin' A Great Day, NOT!!!

Well I certainly hope you're having a better day than we are. We chose poorly and decided to still drive across town in the snow to my mother-in-law's. This after she called and graciously gave us an out, by saying that it was okay if we didn't come. The roads actually weren't bad, granted it was snowy but they weren't any worse than they can be on any snowy day in Michigan. The problem was, as usual bad drivers. We were stopped on the freeway along with all the other traffic, because of another accident a little further on. Then boom, along came another driver behind us going too fast around the curve in the road and smack into our rear end. Luckily her car was of a comparable size to ours and not a big SUV or truck.

The rear ending was loud but no one was hurt and our daughter didn't even start crying. Cause yeah, we're annoyed our car's bumper will need servicing but all I really care about is that my kid is okay. The damage is noticeable but not catastrophic and the car is drivable. Because of the accident ahead of us there were plenty of police officers around, and one came almost immediately after we both pulled to the side of the road. Brad and the woman who'd hit us were standing out on the side of the freeway; as the as the officer came up he said, "People get back in your cars, cause people out here are crazy. They'll run you over." How sad it's probably true. It took awhile, but the first thing he said to us after working on the report in his car was, "Well she's obviously at fault," the magic words you want to hear when in an accident. Turns out the day before he had also been rear ended, so I guess bad drivers are out in force. Buckle up and be careful!
For now, we're staying put at my MIL's house and will brave the roads again tomorrow morning. ER is happy with that, hey who doesn't love undivided attention from Grandma!

Melissa's & Tim's Wedding Photos Online

The photographer from the wedding I was a bridesmaid in last November Amanda Williams, was so much fun to work with. She has a great personality and seemed like an old friend within minutes of arriving at the church. She took great engagement photos of the happy couple and has just posted some gorgeous pictures from the big day on her blog. I normally take a ton of my own photos at big events like this, but I knew from looking at Amanda's blog beforehand that she was going to get amazing photos that would be so much better than mine! It wasn't worth bothering missing any of the fun that day to be behind a camera. I was so right, Melissa looks like a princess and the cake really was that gorgeous!

She also took these fantastic family pictures of one of the other bridesmaid's family. Needless to say we'll be calling Amanda to set up our own photo shoot, because I've always wanted beautiful fall foliage family pictures! The family package is less than what I've paid for pictures at Sears and Kiddie Kandids and the pictures are so much better, on another level entirely. Plus you get 300 images, 8 of which are in a professional folio, all your pictures on CD, and a photo release so you can make copies of your pictures anywhere. If you're in the Detroit area, she comes highly recommended!

MyFarm Anyone?

I joined the Facebook bandwagon after a few friends convinced me that 1.) It was totally free, 2.) I really would enjoy finding people from my past, and 3.) It was strangely addictive. Right on for all three. I have to say, the best part as has been this little application called MyFarm. For a city slicker with a black thumb like me, it's the most gardening success I've ever had. You start by getting a little virtual plot of land. The "King" i.e. the application's creator gifts you a tree and some start of virtual dollars. Then you begin to "farm" by plowing and purchasing seeds. The fun comes from deciding where to plow and what crops to grow. Plowing and buying seeds cost money but you make money when you harvest. You even get "free" money from the tree when after the first six days you harvest that too. It regrows fruit every three days after the initial six. It's free money because you don't have to pay to harvest it and it regrows fruit automatically. With your money you can continue farming larger and larger amounts of your plot and also buy additional trees and animals. It's even better to get your Facebook friends who also have the MyFarm application to send you gifts everyday. Eventually you can even buy extras like a barn so you can sell your animals, a woodshed so you can cut down trees, and a rustic shack to live in. I am sure this is way too much information for most people and it probably sounds super boring. But let me tell you, there is something deeply satifying to see the little red apples on your trees. I'm like, "Oh goodie, I can harvest," as I click the harvest button and watch my monetary grand total increase. I've made over half a million virtual MyFarm bucks, so I think I'm pretty successful LOL! And I've got my brother addicted and my friend Alicia clicking away on their own little virtual farms too. Can't say it's uber exciting, there's not flashy graphics or even really very good graphics but there's just something about MyFarm.
