Project Life March 2014

Hello Project Lifers, I'm linking up this month with Jessica at The Mom Creative, as usual.  March is my birthday month and we also had some special activities so it takes up several spreads in the album this year.  There is actually another full spread and four more full 12X12 traditionally scrapped pages inserted within the month as well, but I'll keep those private for now as some parts are completely done yet.

The first spread includes the very end of February on the left, but since I was at a shamrock themed party the pictures went well with a green/rainbow theme.  The right is about a Grandmas & Granddaughters outing to see the play Charlotte's Web.  My mom and her friend both have granddaughters that are the same age and they got together to take them both out to the show and lunch.  I added additional journaling after photographing.  The program & tickets from the show are in the insert that is just a regular page protector cut down and sealed with washi tape.

On this spread the left side is about Fat Tuesday, which in MI is often called Paczki Day.  My parents timed coming out for a visit on that day so they could enjoy some of the delicious paczki's our downtown bakery makes.  On the right is a page with photos from three different birthday celebration dinners. The collection used is by WRMK's Albums Made Easy: Hip, Hip, Hooray.

Turn the page and here are photos from my actual birthday on the 13th.  I got the most mileage out of my cards by using both sides out of the top two 4X6 cards and the 3X4 used in the middle row. Next to this is an insert, this side has some pictures of the fun my son had playing inside of an empty shipping box.

The back of the insert and the right side of the spread is about my daughter on Saturday the 15th.  She had a swimming pool birthday party in the morning and in the afternoon we went shopping for her First Communion dress.  The story is told on the right and extra photos are in the insert.

On the next spread are the last set of birthday photos, this time of the celebration with my family.  One of my gifts was a Strawberry Core Kit and I was so excited to get my hands on it, I put it to use immediately and on these pages.

The right side is the rest of the Week of March 16-22.  Brad took off for Calgary on Monday for work so the kids and I were home alone.  There was an important preschool sign up meeting that week so my Mom came out to spend the night  so I could attend.

The end of March was a little more typical in terms of Project Life documentation.  We're back to a spread with one insert, not shown.  It has more iPhone pictures than usual for me, I am enjoying having the ability to capture moments on the go without having to bring along my big Canon.

Mani Monday: Essie's Fashion Playground

This one one falls under "YouTube Made Me Buy It" because I wouldn't have given it a second glance until after I watched a few reviews of Essie's Spring 2014 collection.  This is Fashion Playground, which they describe as, "Fun and games just met their match. this plucky pistachio green with subtle shimmer flirts with forever and plays for keeps."

Green of any shade is normally not my thing but this is the prettiest pastel shade and what makes it a hit with me is the shimmer.  It's just barely visible in the bottle, and only faint traces can be seen on the nail but it's what prevents the color from being flat and really pulls everything together for one of the loveliest colors in my collection.  I've been pleasantly surprised by how often I reach for this to wear.

Birchbox Mystery Sample Pack or Great I, Got 2 Foil Packs

When I ordered my fabulous Modern Mermaid Limited Edition Birchbox, full review here, my order qualified for a free Mystery Sample Pack.  This is what I got, two foil packs.  This is 2 for 2 on the thumbs down for the Mystery Sample Pack for me.  My first one came with one dried up, unusable sample and this one is equally underwhelming.  So yes, it was free for me, but they are also sold for $10.  So let me say once and for all, do not, not ever, order and pay for one of these!
