I'm Proud: My Life in Pictures

One of the moments I am proudest of is the day my husband Brad got his PhD in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. You might think it's because of the years of hard work, late hours, and study that he put in. You'd be partly right. I am very proud of Brad for making it through a rigorous program with many ups and downs. But I am also very proud of us as a couple and what we went through together to make our dreams come true.

His doctorate was the culmination of several big changes and personal growth that we both went through. We both left our homes and families to move across the country, where we didn't know anyone but each other. I didn't even have a job when I moved and we didn't really have housing secured either. At first glance it might not have seemed like the most auspicious start to our married life.

We had to learn many thing, some of which I am still working on...like cooking edible meals. Since both of us went to a commuter University and continued to live at home with our parents it was the first time we'd lived away. We had to figure out how to run a household, budget, time manage, all while starting new careers and entering the workforce for the first time. It was a stressful time but also a great time, when we bonded and grew together. I am so glad we had this time away from our families so we could both learn how to be independent and how to rely and support one another.

Congrats to him and your whole family. I'd had enough schooling after my master degree!! You both were very brave to make such a move while having so many new adventures going on. I'm sure you think it was all worth it now.

I agree. I think that when you get married, you share the triumphs of one another. I believe that you did your part also by supporting your husband. I admire you guys as a couple. You guys live up to your dreams TOGETHER and I think that marriage is about that. You guys are a great couple. More years of happy marriage. Cheers! Congratulations to your husband and to you.:)
