Pink Together Giveaway: Celebrate Hope During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

This giveaway is now closed thank you to everyone who entered and shared their stories.  Congratulations to  JC, comment #3 who said, "like Pink Together on Facebook"

Breast cancer is one disease that has really touched my life.  My mom was diagnosised as we were in the mist of planning my wedding and is a breast cancer survivor of over ten years.  My Grandma and Great Aunts also had breast cancer and some of you may recall the a few months ago I lost a sorority sister to it.  It is a terrible disease, but now we can all  find hope and be inspired by taking part of fifth annual Pink Together campaign.
At PinkTogether.com you can connect online with other people who have been touched by breast cancer.  You can share your own story, be inspired by other member's personal journeys, and read messages of hope.  It's strength in numbers and also a way for you to help raise real money toward the cause.
For each Message of Hope that is sent to someone who has shared their story on PinkTogether.com, General Mills will donate $1 to the Komen organization (up to $25,000) during October. That's in addition to a $2 million donation General Mills is making to the Komen organization!  General Mills will also be turning the packaging of participating products pink in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month this month. So be on the look out for pink all over your grocery store shelves!

The most exciting part is that for the first time at PinkTogether.com you can help choose how $1 million of this donation will be shared between two important Komen programs: the Treatment and Assistance Program, which assists women in securing care they otherwise may not be able to afford, and Prevention Research, which helps unlock the keys to preventing breast cancer. Visit PinkTogether.com from September 19, 2011 through April 14, 2012 to make your choice. Results will be announced on Mother´s Day 2012 - Sunday, May 13.

I will definitely be going to pinktogether.com to share my story!!

I shared the highlights of my mom's cancer story on my blog today, and announced that I would be donating a dollar from every pink purchase on my Etsy shop to Susan G. Komen.

Breast cancer runs in my family. My mom was diagnosed in October 2009 and I've been with her through three lumpectomies, a mastectomy, chemo, and over a year and a half of HER2 treatments. She's healthy now and I want to see breast cancer researchers to get the funds they need to find a cure. :-)

I found a very large lump last year. I still don't feel like I really got an adequate answer as to what it was.

I am actually a breast cancer warrior. A year ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. It had already spread to my spine.

We had something similar running here last month. It is a horrible disease, I lost a grandma to it and you can imagine my horror when I found a lump in my own breast 11 years ago. I can still remember the day clearly, I felt like I'd just been given a death sentence (I was also being investigated for ovarian cancer at the time so it was a double blow).

Clearly, things turned out ok, at least physically! Though I still feel traumatised by the whole experience!

My Mom had breast cancer almost 20 years ago. But it was caught early so she never needed chemo or radiation.
