iPlay Outdoors: Soccer Trainer Review

International Playthings sent recently sent us a Soccer Trainer from their iPlay line, just in time for the World Cup to start. What a nicely and timely toy to add to your home! Not just a toy, it's also a great way to get the kids outside for some active play.

Did you know that the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine recently found that children with more TV exposure tend to participate less in class and have lower math grades. They are also less likely to be physically active on weekends, and have body mass index scores that are about 5 percent higher than their peers. International Playthings loves to encourage productive play by offering a range of toys that get kids into the great outdoors and their Soccer Trainer just one of their many options.Product Description: The soccer trainer set is fun to use while improving ball control and coordination while practicing kicks! The set includes an 8-inch ball that is attached to the base. The ball is easy to inflate using the included pump whose needle stores inside the handle. Before playing, simply weight the base with either sand or water. It is versatile and can be played alone or with a friend!

We thought the best way to tell you how the Soccer Trainer works was to SHOW you how it works. Here is a short clip of ER playing with it in our back yard. As you can see, this trainer has the potential to keep an active child busy for quite some time. Which might give Daddy enough time to grill dinner or Mommya chance to garden a bit while nearby. This time Daddy, our resident soccer fan, tested the toy with ER and had this to say:

"It has an adjustable teether that's nice because you can decide how far the ball will go before it bounces back. It's nice because you don't have to constantly run after the ball, when ER kicks it wildly. She liked how it came right back to her. It'd be great for an older kid who needs to practice dribbling in a larger space. On the cons side, the included hand pump didn't really work or I manged to break it almost immediately. It pumped up very quickly and easily with a ball adaptor on a regular bike pump."

Overall, we thought it was perfect for spring and summer days, when the weather is warmer and days are longer, allowing for longer time spent outdoors. The Soccer Trainer, for ages 3+, retails for $19.99 and can be purchased directly through International Plaything's website.

Wow what a great idea to but a ball on a tether. I'll have to remember this as the girls interests change. We are all ice skating, ballet and gymnastics here.
