Easy Photo Album Mini Scapbook

I like to send Brad's grandparents in Missouri pictures from time to time, so that they feel more of a connection with our daily lives. His Grandma always calls as soon as they arrive in the mail to thank me. I know she really appreciates them; she carries them around to show everyone in town. She likes that they come in little plastic photo albums because they are lightweight, the pictures are protected, and it fits in her handbag. Because I include little photo captions, some pages are all journaling, and decorative touches they are like mini scrapbooks or an embellished brag book. Here is another version I made, to show a before and after. As you can see I started with a plastic photo album, these costs less than two dollars each but you can also find this type at The Dollar Store. In the Christmas one, the package is 3D embellished sticker so it gives it a little dimension. To make the covers I just slip out the ones that come with it and cover them with paper, decorate, and slip back in.
The one I'm going to share more of is covered with leftover scraps of wrapping paper from making hats at our Mother's Day Tea Party. Since those pictures are included in that book, I thought that was a fun tie in. I also used the little flower punch as a design elements throughout the photo album scrapbook to make it more cohesive looking.Inside the front cover I always include a little note to the grandparents and summarize what's inside the book. Then I print out little descriptions and include them throughout the book as needed. Above are examples of how I decided to caption two consecutive but non related photos.
If I have several photos of the same event, I'll include a journaling page before they all begin. It's not that exciting to look at, just a 4X6 piece of cardstock with a 3.5X5.5 text box over it. I didn't think to take a picture of that kind of spread before I sent this book off. Since they'd be familiar with traditional Easter events, I used one of my journaling stamps to introduce this section of pictures. I like to include some computer generated text as well as stamps for variety. I also try to stay away from over embellishing as that makes the book too thick. I hope you liked my solution for putting a few creative touches on sharing family pictures!
